Lions Young Leaders in Service

What is the award?

Bronze Seal Award

For 12 months service of  25 – 49 hours

Silver Seal Award

    For 12 months service of  50 – 99 hours

Gold Seal Award

   For 12 months service of 100 hours or more

Who can take part

Young people between the ages of 11 and 18

How does it work

Each young person will be provided with a logbook in which to record their service activities.

The activities are grouped into 10 different categories.

All the hours can be from the same activity or from a variety of services

What activities might our Young Leaders be involved in

Charity work, including fundraising and “hands on” involvement

Youth work including the Guide/Scout movement, Youth Club, Church, Cadets, Duke of Edinburgh award

Environmental projects

Service to the young, the elderly, their family, neighbours, anyone in need

Helping their local Lions Club

Young Leaders could help the local Lions Club with fundraising and welfare activities

Lions Shoe boxes

Spectacle Collections

Help Homeless/Hungry People

Planting trees

Helping maintain flower beds

Collect used spectacles and hearing

aids for recycling.

Help with Lions Message in a Bottle.

  Assist with health screening.

  Help raise awareness of health

  Issues affecting young people

Literacy & Education

Helping a child to read and write

Reading to those visually impaired

Record stories for the visually impaired to listen to.

Disaster Relief

Organizing an event to raise funds

Helping at an event to raise funds

Collecting clothes or toys

Reading stories

Helping with homework

As a Guide helping with Brownies or Rainbows

As a Scout helping with Cubs or Beavers

Taking a leaders role with Cadets

Help Elderly People

Perform simple home repairs and jobs around the house

Running errands

Chatting and being a friend

Helping older people with IT skills

Help to parents and family

Caring for a disabled family member

Shopping and cleaning

Entertaining, chatting and motivating

Looking after younger brothers or sisters; babysitting

Young Leaders in Service Diary

Flexible timetable operating through the year

Start date: as soon as you get your logbook  Finish: on the 1st anniversary of that date

At end of 12 months of service receive your certificate, letter of congratulations and badge

   Presentation ceremony: a public event to present the awards and celebrate you, the youth in the area.
